Design
Puma 180s are low-top sneakers.
Design-wise, they draw inspiration from early ’90s skate sneakers, featuring a chunky, oversized look. The sneakers have a lace-up front and a paneled upper, which give them their distinctive style.
Their chunkiness comes from the oversized padding on all sides, especially the tongue, collar, and midsole. Additionally, they feature bold, brightly colored uppers that are great for styling.
Overall, it’s design is presentable, elegant, and clean for everyday styling. I will give them a solid 9 out of 10 for their design.
Materials
Materials are not anything new, but they do their jobs well and effectively.
The upper part of the shoe uses a mix of leather, mesh, and synthetic materials. The leather, which is on the Puma Formstrip along the sides, looks really sharp. The mesh covers most of the upper part, which is great for keeping your feet cool. The synthetic materials are on the bottom eyelets and side panels, adding extra durability and structure where it’s needed.
The tongue and laces are made from a nice, soft textile that feels really plush. The midsole is made from IMEVA (Injection-Molded EVA). It’s a nice material for cushioning but lacks top-tier shock absorption for bigger jumps during skating.
The outsole is rubber and has a textured finish for good grip. It might not be the best for wet conditions, but it holds up well on most surfaces.
And finally, inside, the shoe has a smooth textile lining that feels nice against your skin. The insole is made from EVA foam. It’s not super cushioned, but you can always swap it out for a comfier one if you need more cushioning.

Comfort
In terms of comfort, this sneaker is average. It’s not bad, but it’s not the best either. I’ve worn a lot of sneakers recently, and this one didn’t impress me in here.
First, it doesn’t have any special technology from Puma. There’s no technology to improve breathability or make it better for running or sports like we see in the Puma RS-X.
Next, the cushioning on the insole is quite minimal and thinner compared to models like the Puma Mirage or Puma Suede XL. While the cushioning on the collars and tongue is good, the lack of cushioning on the insole can make your feet hurt if worn for a long time.
The midsole is very thick, which adds weight that you can feel when walking. The same goes for skating; I would say the weight needs to be less.
For walking, this sneaker is fine for normal walks but not for long ones. It’s more suitable for styling or occasions where you’ll mostly be sitting or just standing, like at a café, a friend’s gathering, or strolling in a mall.
So, in the comfort section, I would give this shoe a rating of 6.5 out of 10.
Size and Fitting
Puma 180 goes true-to-size (TTS).
These are fairly over-sized sneakers, but they fit well. I’ve seen many chunky sneakers that sometimes need a half size down for narrow feet, but here, there’s no need for that.
The shoe gives you a nice and tight fit with some extra room in the toe box. So, my recommendation is to pick your own size.
