How to Clean Golden Goose Shoes? The Right Way to Clean Your Shoes?

best way to clean golden goose shoes

Constantly wearing one pair of shoes can make them dirty, and you might be tempted to wear them without cleaning.

So, if you want to clean your Golden Goose shoes, you’re in the right place. I’m about to share the easiest and simplest way to clean them.

Here are my personal tips and tricks to restore your shoes’ condition.

How to Clean Your Golden Goose Shoes?

Before we start the process, you need to check the materials of your Golden Goose shoes. For the most part, you’re going to see leather, suede, cotton, and silk. For each of these materials, we are going to take a different approach to cleaning.

And for the most effective cleaning, make sure to get yourself all the necessary cleaning stuff.

The Things You’ll Need To Clean Golden Goose Shoes:

  • Soft-bristled Brush
  • Toothbrush
  • Suede Eraser
  • Toothpaste
  • Soap or detergent
  • Water
  • Towel
  • Shoe Care Spray

Now, if you have everything ready, let us get started with the cleaning.

Note: I don’t guarantee that you’re going to get 100% new shoes, but after going through my process, you’ll definitely see good results.

Preparation

Start by taking off your shoes and removing the laces. Put the laces in a bowl of lukewarm water with some detergent, and let them soak for a while.

Next, use a regular brush to remove all the dust from the shoes. Make sure to clean the inside too, either by brushing or gently tapping the shoes to get rid of any dirt.

Once all the dirt is gone, you’re ready for the next step.

Cleaning the Upper

To clean the upper part of the shoe, take out the suede brush or any soft-bristle brush and gradually use it on the suede part. Don’t put any water on it, as it damages the material.

If you have stubborn stains on suede, use a suede eraser. Rub it gently because the eraser can sometimes remove some of the color. If you do not have an eraser, use a towel on your finger to gently scrub the obvious marks.

Moreover, if you’re shoes are made of all leather, then brush them nicely and apply some leather polisher to give them a shine and prevent cracking.

Cleaning Soles

For soles, you can use water—not much, but you can, as it won’t damage this side of the shoes.

Personally, what I do is take some toothpaste and apply it to the midsoles and outsole. With that, I use a toothbrush to rub and remove stains from the dirty spots. I rub in a circular motion; it helps to clean better.

After scrubbing for a while, I spray some clean water and let them wipe all the toothpaste from the outsole and midsole.

Once all the toothpaste is removed, I let the shoe air dry, and only then do I apply a protective spray or polish to keep the shoes looking new.

Finalizing

Now, for the final step, take the laces out of the soak. Rinse them with clean water, and then leave them to dry.

Note: Avoid drying them in the heat or in direct sunlight. Rather, set them aside to dry naturally in a shaded area.

Once the shoes and laces are dry, lace up your shoes. Then, apply some shoe care spray for added protection. You can use any spray you have available.

After using this way of cleaning, you’ll notice that your sneakers look super clean and will look pretty decent to wear.

However, if the shoe still isn’t clean, Golden Goose provides an online repair service. Try it.

Final Thoughts: Does It Worth Cleaning Shoes?

Yes! it’s good to clean your shoes every month or two if you do it the right way.

If not, you could ruin them. There are many TikTok and Instagram videos that suggest using water and laundry detergents to clean sneakers, but that’s a bad idea. It will damage the material, and you’ll regret it.

So, yeah! be wise when cleaning your shoes.

FAQs

Can I Wash Golden Goose in the Washing machine?

No, that’s not a good idea. Golden Goose shoes aren’t made for such a way of cleaning. Just remember, shoes made from leather, suede, rubber, and vinyl aren’t made for washing machines.

So, avoid using a washing machine to wash your shoes. Instead, use a dry cloth to buff your shoes to give them a shine.

How To Clean Suede Of Golden Goose Shoes?

The suede is the most sensitive part of the shoe and gets dirty very quickly. In order to clean the suede of your Golden Goose shoes, you can use a suede brush and gently brush the suede in one direction. You can also use a suede eraser to remove any stains.

Finally, you can use a suede protector spray to protect the suede from dirt.

How to Fix Suede After Getting Wet?

If your suede shoes get wet, follow these steps:

  1. Blot Them Dry: Use a microfiber towel to gently blot the shoes and remove as much moisture as possible.
  2. Apply Suede Waterproofing Spray: Once the shoes are dry, apply a suede waterproofing spray. This will restore their protective barrier and help prevent future moisture-related damage and stains.
